It was established by Henry Flagler in 1894 as the first resort hotel on Florida’s east coast. It was built to provide easy access to the Atlantic Ocean for his guests, who could now travel from the hotel via a short trolley ride to the beach at Boca Raton, located just two miles away.

You can find in the club some original architecture from the days of Spanish rule, with lots of Spanish-style elements including arched windows, balconies, and tiled roofs.
