Boca Raton’s Jewish Community Continues to Grow as One of America’s Most Vibrant

Boca Raton has long been associated with sunshine and affluence, but a closer look reveals something equally remarkable: one of the most dynamic and institutionally rich Jewish communities in the United States.

An estimated 85,000 to 100,000 Jewish residents live in the Boca Raton–Boynton Beach corridor, making it one of the densest concentrations of Jewish population outside of New York, Los Angeles, and Broward County. The numbers alone, however, don’t capture what makes the community distinctive. It is the institutions.

The Boca Raton Synagogue, led by Rabbi Efrem Goldberg, has grown into one of the most prominent Modern Orthodox congregations in North America. Jewish day schools, including Donna Klein Jewish Academy and the Torah Academy of Boca Raton, enroll thousands of students. The Alpert Jewish Family Service provides social services ranging from elder care to mental health counseling, ensuring the community’s most vulnerable are not overlooked.

The community’s philanthropic reach extends far beyond South Florida. Major donors based in Boca have funded institutions from Jerusalem to Manhattan, and the local Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County runs annual campaigns that rank among the most successful in the country.

What has emerged is not simply a retirement destination for snowbirds, but a permanent, multigenerational Jewish presence investing in schools, synagogues, and community institutions built to last. Boca Raton has quietly become one of the great centers of American Jewish life.
